Alaska Air Transit offers a mix of on-demand charters and limited scheduled service to Chenega Bay.
Charter flights are available for a flat rate which is lower than our equivalent hourly charter rate. These flat rate charters include the use of up to the full eight seat capacity of the aircraft in both directions, so long as the customer agrees to allow other people or freight to travel on unused space.
Seat fare travel is available on regularly scheduled flights, providing an affordable way to travel on a known schedule.
Space available seat fares are offered at a reduced rate on charter flights. If you only need a few seats and your travel plans are flexible, these space available seat fares are a good way to save money. Keep in mind that a charter flight’s schedule and space availability is controlled by the charter customer, and their plans many change.
Note: All rates quoted below already include 7.5% federal excise tax (FET)
SCHEDULED SEAT FARE SERVICE - Merrill Field, Anchorage directly to and from Chenega Bay
- Seat fares: $225 one-way
- Discount seat fares for Elders over 55, or children aged 12 years or younger: $180 one-way
- Baggage allowance is 50 pounds per person
- Depart Merrill Field at 2:00 PM ------> Arrive Chenega Bay at 2:45 PM
- Depart Chenega Bay at 3:00 PM -----> Arrive Merrill Field, Anchorage at 3:45 PM
FLAT RATE CHARTER SERVICE - Merrill Field, Anchorage to and from Chenega Bay
- Navajo Chieftain charter- $1280 (FET included) for up to eight passengers, with a combined passenger and freight total of up 1900 total pounds
- Additional stop at a second Prince William Sound destination- $440
SPACE AVAILABLE SEAT FARE SERVICE
- Space available seat fares- $140 one-way
- Discount space available seat fares for Elders over 55, or children 12 years or younger- $130
- Reposition aircraft from another Prince William Sound destination- $440, includes one seat fare
- Baggage allowance is 50 pounds per space available seat fare passenger
SPACE AVAILABLE FREIGHT SERVICE - Merrill Field, Anchorage to and from Chenega Bay
- Standard freight rate for boxed or box sized packages: 50¢ per pound, $10 minimum per box/ package
- Flat Rate self-packed Bush boxes:
- $ 10 for up to 29 lbs (34.5¢ per pound if box filled to 29 lbs)
- $ 15 for 30 to 40 lbs (37.5¢ per pound if box filled to 40lbs)
- Loose unboxed freight, or boxes packed by AAT: 75¢ per pound, $10 minimum per piece (you might save money by boxing loose groceries!)
- Oversized freight, i.e. bicycles, furniture, or other items requiring seat removal: 75¢ per pound, $10 minimum per item
- Stamped envelopes and envelopes held for pickup travel free
- Tip: save money by using boxes and boxing your own goods
- Bush boxes (20” x 16” x 11”) may be purchased for $3 each
